Here are the 3 applications I am going to see.

SugarCRM, based in California (USA) and founded in 2004, is a CRM that is available in both open-source and commercial open-source applications. It success was immediate and today it is still a very well-known application.

Vtiger was originally (2004) forked from SugarCRM with the intention of being a fully open source CRM application with comparable functionality to SugarCRM and Salesforce. The development team is based in India. It is a very popular alternative, especially since the 2010's release with new interface and tools.

VTECRM is an English/Italian project founded in 2008. It was originally forked from Vtiger with the intention of expand its functionality and improve the usability. The open source system is available in both free and business (cloud and on premise) applications. Although the most recent, it is proving to be a reliable and endearing alternative.

The 3 systems are open source and built on Apache, MySQL and PHP.
